I have been designing websites using HTML for over twenty years. I’ll admit I’m a little out of practice, and using WordPress is slightly outside my usual way of creating things.
That doesn’t mean I’m incapable of building something amazing. It just means I’m focusing on function first, and beauty will follow.
Right now my priority is getting everything up and running. When I’m eventually able to upgrade from the free WordPress account, I plan to shorten the domain name, create custom buttons, and refine the design so the site reflects the overall message and vision behind this project.
Ultimately, I want this advocacy project to reflect the sangha I hope to build.
Yesterday I ran into my first real hiccup. Every link on the site kept bringing visitors back to the same page, no matter what was clicked. It was driving me absolutely insane.
This morning I sat down, did a little tweaking, and the fix turned out to be incredibly simple. The kind of simple that makes you feel like you’re back in high school realizing you completely overthought the assignment.
(Thank you, WordPress, for reminding me that sometimes the complicated brain is the real problem.)
Now that everything is functioning correctly on the front end, I finally feel confident that the site is ready to begin growing and reaching people.
And yes, I’ll admit it… my stomach is in knots.
I believe this project has the potential to become something meaningful. I already have a handful of people willing to share their stories, and I even have a few stories of my own that didn’t make it into my book that I may share along the way.
The most important thing to understand about this space is simple:
This is meant to be a safe place.
A place where voices that have been quiet for too long can finally be heard.
I share this with you with love and light.
Before I go, I want to answer one question you might see mentioned here often:
What is a Sangha?
A sangha is a supportive spiritual community walking a path together.
